Nicholas Shaw deals in watercolours and drawings by adventurers, explorers, keen amateurs and professional artists who chose to depict in watercolours and drawings the unfamiliar lands that they travelled to in the eighteenth and nineteenth century before the widespread advent of photography. In particular, he deals in paintings and drawings of India and the Middle East by both British artists and local artists adopting a similar practice, such as those in India working in the so-called ‘Company School’ tradition.
In addition, we locate and broker sales of important works of art from these regions notably those relating to India, the Ottoman Empire and the world beyond.
